The Cyber Crusaders are a robotics team focused on building the next generation of leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math and business. Founded at Lansdale Catholic High School in 1998, in an effort to expand the high school’s math and science programs, the team continues to strive for excellence by creating a competitive robot and improving on their brand each year.
Reinvented and Revitalized in 2014 the Cyber Crusaders have reorganized into committees headed by experienced students who are able to further structure and guide the direction of the work. Through peer guidance, the team leaders educate newer members and teach them the skills required to be a contributing member. It is a way to entrust them with greater responsibilities and instill the confidence needed to become effective leaders. The program fosters the peace of mind that no person on the team falls behind or is lacking in their ability to contribute. Team 272 has a slogan, “We will find a way, or we will make one.” Cyber Crusaders bring dedication, determination, and leadership to the competitions raising the awareness of FIRST in the community and advancing STEM in the world.
Participating in FIRST provides a unique challenge to the students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) as well as business and organizational skills and enables them to show their talent at a national and international level. The intense design and build season of FIRST teaches students how to work in a team environment, manage their time and collaborate efforts. By competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition, students have the unique opportunity to acquire experience in the fields of business, engineering and programming to assist them with future careers.
